Sawdust is Man Glitter These signs are made by hand from solid hardwoods. Each piece is milled to size, keyholed and sanded prior to printing. Milling raw lumber into sign blanks requires a number of steps. A jointer is used to ensure that one side of the wood is perfectly flat. The planer takes care of the thickness ensuring that all boards will come together without height variations. The table saw cuts each slat to the desired width and the mitre saw handles the length. A router places the keyhole in the back and a final sanding smooths any remaining rough spots. Printing Your Sign The Magic of UV Sign blanks are moved from the shop to our Mimaki printer. This UV printer uses inks to print the image directly to the wood. A UV light follows the print head and cures the ink instantaneously creating a bond between the ink and the wood. UV Advantages Bright Vivid Colors Fade Resistant Inks Waterproof No Cracks or Peeling Each sign is given a final inspection before being boxed for shipment. All edges are hand sanded to ensure they are smooth and free of defects and the printed surface is checked for errors. Once complete, our brand is added to the back of each sign and it is the boxed for shipment to your door.
